During the two-day conference, several panel discussions were held alongside numerous paper presentations.

The panel titled “Defence and Security Policies of the European Union” was moderated by Igor Milić, with participants including Prof. Dr. Vlatko Cvrtila, Dr. Damir Trut, and Dr. Rade Rajkovchevski.

The panel discussion “Crises in Real Time – Informing in the Era of TikTok, Artificial Intelligence, and Viral Narratives” was moderated by Prof. Dr. Domagoj Bebić, with panelists Deniz Aygun Bayram, Dr. Martina Mihalinčić, and Josip Granić.

The conference concluded with a student debate involving both international students and students from Velika Gorica University of Applied Sciences (VVG). Around 50 students from Finland, Romania, Portugal, Spain, Estonia, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Croatia engaged in a highly engaging discussion on the topic of climate change, attempting to present their views and answers to the question:
“Climate and Water – Have We Reached the Point of No Return?”

The debate was moderated by Dr. Ana Mirenić.

At the end of the debate, all students—as well as the professors who participated in the entire Blended Intensive Programme (BIP2025) – Crisis Management for a Sustainable Future: Health, Water, Climate and Marine Protection—received certificates and gifts on behalf of Velika Gorica University of Applied Sciences. The programme consisted of three components: online classes, a field camp in Šapjane near Rijeka, and the final debate at the international conference.

A large number of papers were submitted to the 18th conference, with author presentations taking place throughout both days. Two keynote lectures were delivered within the themed sections:

  • Ivana Alilović: “Beyond Sustainability: How Regenerative Tourism Is Changing the Game”

  • Deniz Aygun Bayram: “From Crisis to Solidarity: Strategic Communication in the Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes 2023”

At the close of this highly successful 18th International Conference, we extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors: the Ministry of the Interior, Zagreb County, and the City of Velika Gorica, which also served as co-organizer of the conference. We thank all our partners and sponsors.

A special thank you to the organizing and scientific committee, led by Prof. Dr. Sanja Kalambura, and to our students, whose support was invaluable in making the conference a success.

Crisis Management Days is a remarkable story that we wish to continue building—with the help of all our partners and supporters.
