Field Trip – Quality Management in Logistics Course
16.04.2025

As part of the Logistics Management study program, a field trip was organized to the company E.G.O. Elektro-komponente d.o.o., under the guidance of Professor Irina Kacian. The main topic of the visit was Management Tools in the Quality Management System, with a specific focus on Lean Management.
E.G.O. Elektro-komponente is Croatia’s leading manufacturer and one of Europe’s largest producers of components for household appliances. For the past 33 years, it has been part of the EGO Group – a global leader in electronics for household appliances – with a total revenue of nearly 60 million EUR, almost 100% of which is generated through exports, making it one of Croatia’s top exporters.
The hosts and lecturers during the field trip were Ivica Gašparec, mag. ing. mech., Head of Production System Improvement, and Tamara Čučković, Professor of English and Italian, Lean Production and Administration Trainer.
Ivica Gašparec presented the company’s organization and explained how the company fosters continuous improvement throughout all levels — from management to individual employees — through new ideas and improvement requests from both employees and clients.
Tamara Čučković demonstrated how internal systems connect processes, streamline information flow and documentation, and track and enhance operational processes.
After learning about the internal system, students visited the company’s largest plant, featuring several different production processes. A highlight in each production area was the so-called Lean Corner, used for quick employee information, education, and communication. Students were also introduced to the Kanban system and the 5S methodology.
Employees emphasized that the company’s market success is built exclusively on customer trust in the quality of delivered products and services, as well as on continuous investment in technical-technological development, the application of modern business organization, constant employee training, quality management, compliance with the latest ISO standards, worker safety, environmental protection, and a high level of social responsibility — all crucial elements of their business policy that yield excellent market results.
We would like to thank E.G.O. Elektro-komponente for their warm welcome, the valuable insights shared with our students, and the small gift for each student – a keychain.
