Class goal: Obtaining elementary knowledge on management and strategic management in logistics. Obtaining management and usage skills in business operations. |

Class content: a) General information on management – Definition of management: concept, tasks and meaning of management, – Development of management: early ideas, mature period, contemporary approaches, – Contemporary management challenges: responsibility, information technology, globalization, etc. – Management functions, – Planning; strategic planning, operative planning, – Organizing: organization in companies, work processes and projects, – Coordinating: working with people, leadership, – Project management, – Monitoring, classic monitoring, quality management, other models, – Decision-making; decision-making process, decision making ethics, – Changes management; achieving climate for changes, leading the changes process b) Strategic management: – Definition and meaning of strategic management, strategic management components, – Strategic managers, levels of strategic management, – Legation, goals, interested groups, social responsibility, – Forming the strategy (internal and external analysis, SWOT analysis, selecting the strategy), – Strategy implementation (forming organizational structure, forming integrative and control systems, harmonizing strategy, structure and control), – Politics and power in organizations (sources of politics and power in organizations, affect of politics and power on strategies, managing organizational policies), – Conflicts in organizations (sources of conflicts in organizations, strategic management of conflicts), – Changes in organizations (determining needs for changes, determining hindrances and resistance to changes, introducing changes into organizations, self-learning organization), – New approaches in the area of strategic management. |
