Quality of academic mobility activities:

The quality system of the Velika Gorica University of Applied Science has been established in accordance with international standards for introducing quality system ISO 9001 for organization and implementation of higher education for professional study programmes (certificate no.CH07/0692,issued on 9 July 2007, by SGS Adriatica/SWISS).The system is governed particularly in accordance with ESG Guidelines (ENQA-Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area)and ISO/IWA 2-and based on the guidelines for implementation of ISO standards in educational institutions. Direct measurement of the quality of the studying process is based on an annual evaluation of the quality system of the teaching process. Our University fully implements the ECTS credit system. Introducing lower admission numbers enables greater control of the quality of educational process which is very important in applying requirements of Bologna process. The purpose of the process is to decrease the number of students per group in order to apply mentoring approach and interactive work with students. Existing course programs contain a great deal of practical work, which enables students to become familiar with own profession already during the studies and which also enables potential employers to gain insight into students’ abilities. Every student of the University of Applied Sciences has a web account which it is used to show student position (ECTS credits, exams, sign in to exam, administrative information etc). The tutor of the Erasmus programme will help incoming exchange students to plan their exchange semester at our institution: they reserve accommodation upon demand, send out information packages, and organize an orientation program upon arrival. Croatian language courses are available. Incoming students are provided with an academic adviser who helps them to choose appropriate courses. In order to support and encourage staff mobility, we offer English language training.

Quality of student placement activities:

The University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica has a “Code for Implementation of Placement” which defines conditions of implementation of the placement for students. The placement is the compulsory education process and performed in accordance with the curriculum studies. A Joint Commission for the placement has been appointed by the University to regulate the overwhelming problems related to the performance of the placement. The Commission monitors and coordinates the process of realization of the placement for each study. The student has the right to nominate an enterprise/institution where they will perform their placement, and need to submit the proposal to the Commission. The selected enterprise/institution must engage in professional activities that are consistent with a study that the student attends. The Commission considers the proposals of students, evaluates training program and establishes place of placement for each student. A formal agreement must be drawn up between the student, institution and provider to enable the placement to continue. Student who has fulfilled the conditions prescribed, the study leader or his deputy shall act on the referral of students to conduct the placement. The act is specifically governing the type and extent of liability during the student’s placement. Also, the student is obliged to respect the labour laws and safety measures of an enterprise/institution which carries out the placement. During the performance of the placement, students should draft a report on the implementation of the placement, with detailed work activities about their profession, which is performed or in which they participated. The report, produced and verified by a legal entity where the placement is completed, has to be submitted to the Commission at least seven days after the completion of placement. The Commission reviews and accepts the report of the students. The placement is registered in the ECTS Transcript of Records and then, recorded in the diploma supplement.
