First Aid

Course Aims: Gain basic knowledge of first aid in optometry practice. Students will learn how to recognize and provide emergency treatment for injury or sudden illness, before regular medical care is available, how to apply basic life support: rescue breathing, choking, CPR, AED, how to recognize and respond in case of allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, how to act appropriately in bleeding and wound care, shock, burns; head, spinal, chest and abdominal injuries; bone, joint and muscle injuries and also how to recognize and respond in case of sudden illness: cardiac, stroke, respiratory, seizures, diabetes and other life threats.
