Learning outcomes of the master specialist programme
 
1. Identify emergencies in optometric practice.
2. Identify pathological conditions that fall under the responsibility of an optometrist.
3. Know how to properly use diagnostic instruments in optometric practice.
4. Recognize changes in the eye that are caused by drugs or by illnesses.
5. Recommend special vision aids and special contact lenses.
6. Propose visual rehabilitation according to the needs of the patient.
7. Make preoperative preparation for refractive surgery according to the ophthalmologist’s instructions; pre – and postoperative care in cataract surgery.
8. Perform a pediatric examination under the control of an ophthalmologist.
9. Demonstrate high standards of clinical decision making.
10. Perform research work.
11. Understand the need for evidence-based practice in optometry.
